The Pioneer Foods Education and Community Trust ("PFECT") was established in 2012 as part of the Group’s Phase II broad-based ownership initiative (the BEE Trust). Its activities are funded by dividends and CSI contributions from Pioneer Foods. Its mandate includes support to community and education-related programmes.
Education projects | PFECT Bursary Programme | The bursaries support disadvantaged black students in high school and tertiary institutions. The tertiary students are studying in the fields of food science, accounting, engineering and marketing. In 2018 55 students were bursary recipients in this programme |
MOT-SA | PFECT supports the MOT-SA life skills training programmes which target youth in high school and at college | |
Youth Development Projects | Mbekweni Youth Centre | PFECT supports the running of MYC which targets in-school and out-of-school youth. The initiatives include improvement of academic performance, life skills, health, wellness and sport and youth economic development |
Paarl Youth Initiative | PFECT support the youth development programme which runs camps, workshops and support initiatives for youth in the Paarl area. | |
Khula Development Group | The programme identifies and reintegrates children into the school system and assists out-of-school youth to become responsible and productive | |
Community Projects | Love to Give | PFECT supports this initiative which assists mothers and youth in Kayamandi township with small loans and grants to start small-scale businesses, such as dressmaking, selling cooked food, providing creches,catering. |
Learn to Earn | PFECT has partnered with this organisation that serves a training centre that assists in eradicating unemployment through training unemployed people in market related skills development programmes. |
